VEDAA

INTRODUCTION

A young Vedaa journeys, facing and resisting a repressive system against the portrayal of an antagonist and this film is inspired by true events.

STORY

That a movie featuring action star John Abraham is packed with furious fighting, bicep flexing and gunshots is no surprise. However, what is truly impressive about Vedaa is its lead actor Sharvari Wagh, who plays a Dalit girl that just wants to break free from the shackles of caste and oppression. It truly blows my mind and in a good way that a Bollywood flick, released on Independence Day no less, has chosen to showcase the story of a young Dalit woman and make her the protagonist. Given the everyday violence that Dalits are subjected to, Dalit women in particular, this movie is really a breath of fresh air. While it shines a light on atrocities committed against Dalits, there are some incredible scenes of empowerment that made me want to stand up in the theatre and applaud!

 Vedaa

A gripping narrative

A gripping narrative sprinkled with your regular Bollywood masala ingredients and way too much action (that ruins the movie to some extent, which is why I rated it 4 instead of 5) makes this a compelling watch. It would have been nice if the movie had a bit more depth and less action sequences, but it is still an exceptional story to come from Bollywood where oppressed groups seldom get a lead role.

Despite the criticism of John Abraham and his poor acting, I thought this was a pretty great role for him. Sharvari Wagh is brilliant and so are Abhishek Banerjee and Ashish Vidyarthi.

I strongly urge everyone to experience this film and unravel the hidden truths of our society. My advice is not to overlook this gem of a movie by indulging in less impactful films. It carries a profound message regarding the importance of physical and mental fitness for both men and women and the significance of speaking up for what is right.

Vedaa

Is a highly intense and action-packed film that showcases John Abraham in one of his most powerful performances to date. His portrayal is captivating, bringing depth and intensity to the screen. Sharvari also shines, delivering a top-notch performance that complements the film’s gritty narrative . You can watch this movie also Maharaja

The story revolves around the deep-rooted issues of untouchability and the injustices faced by backward classes at the hands of the village panchayat. It is a compelling tale of a fight for justice and the right to live freely. The film centres on a young girl who, with the support of John Abraham’s character, stands up against the oppressive forces in her village. The narrative is a strong commentary on social injustice and the courage it takes to challenge deeply ingrained societal norms. **Vedaa** is a must-watch for those who appreciate powerful storytelling and intense performances. This movie is not available on any platform but you can watch this movie on Zee5 on next month .
